I have canoed the marsh and have a high regard for those Native American Indians who mastered and navigated these marshes. The wise father is teaching his son how to hunt, an important skill he will need for life. As only a master of the hunt can, the father paddles the canoe stealthily into the cypress shadows, and he whispers to his son, “Take the shot.” This painting is a salute to those that once inhabited our coastal marshes and low country.
